Feature: Woodland Walks for a Wintry Weekend

Winter is a great time to explore the woods, with lots of light coming through the canopy and the last of the autumn leaves to crunch underfoot. Here are 4 woodland walks within a stone's through of Whyteleafe.

Hawkhirst

A short walk down valley road, take a left turn and enter Hawkhirst woods. Follow the path through to the airfield, or loop up to Kenley Lane for a longer circuit.

Getting there: A short walk, or jump on the 434

Foxley Woods

Head past Kenley station and you'll find Foxley Woods, just off Oaks road. It's a short circuit, with the Higher Drive recreation ground providing a great added bonus if you've got wee ones in tow.

Getting there: Jump on the 434

King's Wood

Put on your wellies as it can get muddy. King's Wood will give you a bit more of a leg stretch, and is a great place to listen out for birds. Download the Merlin app before you head out.

Getting there: A short drive, or take the 409/411 up the hill.

Woldingham Countryside Walk

Starting at Woldingham station, this walk takes in woods and countryside. It's another one where wellies might be useful. Full directions can be found here

Getting there: Take the East Grinstead train from Upper Warlingham
